With the introduction complete it’s time to hit the roads and start this exceptional ride to the coast. Amphoe Khao Chamao is the destination. 100km of twisting winding road is ahead of us with many sights, villages and towns and temples to be seen along the way.

Amphoe Khao Chamao was designated as a national park in 1975. This area of outstanding beauty. The 84 square kilometer park was named after two prestigious mountains. Riding the magnificent roads of the park with its gorgeous mountain routes snaking their way to stunning viewpoints is a trip not to be missed. The lust jungle forests of the park are teeming with wildlife including monkeys, deer, and a variety of tropical birds. We often see large monitor lizards making there was across the roads as we ride by. The mountains here are rocky with limestone cliffs that provide the perfect structure for cascading waterfalls, some come with their very own cave. Don’t forget your swimwear, a dip in these cool pools is just the ticket, feel the showering water will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated.

Lunch is provided in one of the park’s charming restaurants where authentic aromatic Thai specialties can be sampled in a relaxed forest atmosphere and of course, breathtaking views.

Time to leave the park and make our way to beach accommodation close to Chanthaburi town. We’ll get there in order to settle in and view the vibrant golden sunsets famous for the province. A sumptuous feast is served right on the beach with fresh locally caught varieties of ocean fish. The perfect end to the perfect day.

DAY 2

Fully rested, day 2 starts at a leisurely past after a beach breakfast. A short ride takes us to Chanthaburi town. This historical fishing town is a delight with interesting shops selling Thai craft and gems mined in the local cliffs. Choose one of the many quaint coffee shops to rest in for a while. We will visit the shrine or Somdej Phra Chao Taksin Maharat, this beloved King Taksin holds the highest respect of the Chanthaburi people who have a saying. If you haven’t paid your respect to the king, you haven’t been to Chanthaburi.

The southern-eastern coastal roads are calling us and it’s time to really test our grand tourers. Numerous bays and headlands come into view around every corner and bend as we hug the coastline. The sights and smells of small fishing communities will fill our eyes and nose while we lean our bikes swiftly through twisting roads. Heading inland, our final destination is the stunning countryside of Silver Lake.

This landmark area of 480 square resembles the landscape and mountains of southern Thailand’s most famous tourist locations such as Krabi and Phuket. One of Silver Lakes mountains is held in high regard by Thais, the northern side of the mountain has a sheer rocky face, carved into it is a huge golden Buddhist symbol. This attraction is known as Big Buddha Mountain. Thousands of Thais and Westerners alike come to this monument to pay merit to the Lord Buddha. From a riding point of view, the mountain has a fantastic ring road all the way around it perfect for motorbikes. Various spots have viewing points where the entire area can be seen with its lush rolling hills, vineyards, and glistening silvery lakes. This area is under constant development with many restaurants, coffee shops, and buildings giving a feel of Tuscan Italy with pine trees lining the entrance. The smell of olive trees and pine will fill your nose as you enjoy your coffee. Once rested we hit dirty trails exploring the Silver Lake area in search of elusive primates. These little-known shy but inquisitive monkeys live in the Jungle surroundings, we’ll have to leave the beaten track to find them which is a lot of fun and a test for those not used to riding off-road.

The tour ends back at base camp for a hearty burger and refreshing drinks with our new friends. Our chauffeur will be standing by to take you back to your hotel when you’re good and ready, ending this fabulous tour of the Eastern Seaboards Coastal roads.
