ABOUT THIS TOUR

Thailand's world-famous northern magic is the focus of this 2-week touring adventure of a lifetime. Renowned the world over as one of the most loved motorcycling destinations, Chiang Mai and its surrounding provinces offer riders unparalleled diversity with roads to die for.

This jungle paradise is home to some of Thailand's most infamous and elusive tribes living life as they have for countless centuries, deep in the mountain top jungles of the north. On our epic adventure, we'll encounter worshipped caves with monuments offered to the Lord Buddha, hot natural springs with rejuvenating minerals, fabulous temples, and landscapes that will be burnt into your subconscious.

The Mae Hong Son Loop

A key leg of the journey with thousands of undulating twists and inclines offering challenging terrain and infinite oceans of jungle countryside. The legendary Chiang Mai to Pai road — 127km of the most picturesque and challenging roads to be found not only in Thailand but the whole world.

Cultural Encounters

Our tour includes the north's most visited towns such as Chiang Mai and Pai — settlements dating back thousands of years with some of Thailand's most important national treasures. Pai in particular is a traveller's oasis of culture, breathtaking scenery, night bazaars, and themed restaurants. We'll visit the Karen tribe, the Shan people of Myanmar heritage, and the Mae La refugee camp — experiences that offer profound insight into Thailand's diverse beginnings.

National Parks & Wildlife

From Doi Inthanon — the roof of Thailand with its mountain-top strawberry fields and cliff-edge views — to Khao Yai National Park teeming with elephants, bears, deer, and tropical birds. Off-road jungle trails, ancient Sukhothai Kingdom ruins, and the stunning Bhumibol Dam complete this once-in-a-lifetime epic tour.

Your accommodation is a combination of traditional homestays, boutique-style hotels, and friendly local guesthouses — giving riders a taste for the local areas and their inhabitants.

Myanmar Connections & the Shan People

Day 9: Myanmar Connections & the Shan People
1 / 4

A late breakfast before exploring Thailand's historical connection to Myanmar. We trek to the mountains in search of the Shan people — Myanmar's biggest minority of 4–6 million. Some have made the Northern Thai mountains their home, speaking a unique variation of Thai. The Shan are peace-loving people with strong Buddhist beliefs — their food has a taste all of its own.

We discover Wat Phra That, a Burmese temple famed for the remains of Myanmar's most revered monks, smuggled here in perilous danger by devotees in 1874. The views of Mae Hong Son from this magnificent temple are stunning.
